The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is recruiting for a GI surgical pathologist. An MD, MD/PhD, or DO is required. Candidate must be board certified in anatomic pathology or AP/CP, and be qualified for unrestricted licensure for the practice of medicine in Wisconsin.
The laboratory processes approximately 60,000 surgical specimens per year, and the surgical pathology division operates under a subspecialty model with shared call. In addition to routine surgical pathology work, the GI pathologist will teach medical students, residents, and fellows. The University also provides ample opportunities for collaborative translational research.
The successful candidate will be appointed as a full faculty member of the department on a non-tenure track – either a clinical health sciences (CHS) or a clinician-teacher (CT) track.
The CHS track academic pathologist will sign out surgical pathology cases and contribute to the teaching and research missions. General surgical pathology knowledge as well as subspecialty training/expertise in GI pathology is required.
The CT track pathologist is primarily a clinical pathologist, signing out surgical pathology cases and teaching trainees. General surgical pathology knowledge as well as subspecialty training/expertise in GI pathology is preferred.
