With sadness we note the passing of V. Craig Jordan, PhD, DSc, who died on June 9, 2024. Dr. Jordan was a faculty member in the Department of Human Oncology from 1980-1993. He is credited with discovering in the 1970s the breast cancer preventive properties of tamoxifen, which was originally investigated as a potential contraceptive but instead became one of the most widely used breast cancer drugs in the world. Dr. Jordan generously sponsored a named lectureship for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and UWCCC on translational oncology research that will continue as a small part of his legacy.
