9th Annual Pathology Research Day

After a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 9th annual Michael N. Hart Pathology Research Day was held on Monday, August 29, 2022.Events included the Zu Rhein lecture, research talks, inclusion training, and a poster session. Thomas Willnow, PhD, of Aarhus University and the Max-Debrueck Center for Molecular Medicine in Berlin, gave this year’s keynote lecture on neurodegeneration and Alzheimer’s disease.

Dr. Rashmi Agni received the 2022 Reza Teaching Award to acknowledge her outstanding contributions to education. This peer-nominated and selected award is a distinguished honor.

27 CMP graduate students presented posters of their research, and the following four students were awarded for their work:

  • Beniah Brumbaugh (Sugden Lab, Department of Oncology)
  • Billy Erazo (Knoll Lab, Department of Medical Microbiology & Immunology)
  • Michelle Koenig (Golos Lab, Department of Comparative Biosciences)
  • Steven Mayerl (Gamm Lab, Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences)
