Former Pathology Department faculty member and Chair, Henry Pitot, MD, PhD, passed away last week at the age of 91.
Dr. Pitot joined the departments of Pathology and Oncology (McArdle Laboratory) in 1960, served as Chair of the Department of Pathology from 1968 to 1971, and served as Acting Dean of the UW School of Medicine from 1971 to 1973. Since 1999, he held emeritus status. Henry Pitot was a true world leader in the area of carcinogenesis and helped the McArdle Laboratory achieve its legendary reputation.
