Congratulations to Erin Brooks, MD, who received an Outstanding Service Award from the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) during the organization’s October 2019 annual meeting. Dr. Brooks has served as Chair of the NAME Bioterrorism and Infectious Disease Committee since 2016 and was Chair of the 2018 Interim NAME meeting (theme: Emerging Infectious Disease). NAME is the professional organization of physician medical examiners and medicolegal death investigators who perform the official duties of medicolegal death investigation in the United States and elsewhere. NAME’s activities are centered on professional education, development of practice standards, and accreditation of medical examiner offices to maximize contributions to public health and the civil/criminal judicial systems. This award is given in recognition of outstanding service to NAME and of significant contributions to the advancement of the medicolegal investigation of deaths in the United States.
